Double Pressure

Pressure Sounds have got two more reissues slated for the late summer and early autumn of 2009.

First up on 8 August is a Delroy Wilson LP called Dub Plate Style that was originally issued as 20 Golden Greats on the Third World label in the UK. The tunes are Bunny Lee productions but the mix was done specifically for the LP by Prince Jammy at Tubby’s.

Pressure/Treasure…Pleasure Dub

Next up from Pressure Sounds is a re-issue of the classic dub set Pleasure Dub. This was the third in the trilogy of Dub LP’s of Treasure Isle Rocksteady classics originally recorded by Tommy McCook and the Supersonics and then mixed/dubbed by Errol Brown. Dub Echoes DVD & CD/LP

I mentioned the impending release of the Dub Echoes film on DVD by Soul Jazz last November. Well it’s been a bit delayed but it finally gets released on the 11 May.

Alongside the DVD there will be a double CD/triple vinyl release of accompanying tunes. I know little of the new fangled styles like Dub Step that are featured but there are enough old school tunes for it to deserve a mention anyway. Hopefully … continue reading…

Dub Echoes on DVD

The documentary “Dub Echoes” shows how this Jamaican invention called dub ended up influencing much of the music we hear today, from electronic music to hip-hop, transforming the studio in a musical instrument and giving way to all of sonic experiments.
