Gappy Ranks on 7"

The tribute to Studio One by Gappy Ranks, Put The Stereo On has finally been released on seven inch single by Peckings. Voiced over Tunnel One, a Tommy McCook horns piece on the Hot Milk rhythm, this has been creating quite a stir for well over a year.

50 Pounds of Entertainment

Loud Disturbance Records have just released a new cut on the Heavenless/Entertainment rhythm which they’ve named 50 Pounds. Heavenless started life at Studio One circa 1968 with the horns cut by Vin Gordon (though it’s sometimes incorrectly credited to Don Drummond).

Bad this year

Undisputed tune of the year so far has to go to Gappy Ranks for Put The Stereo On. Gappy has been on top of things with his tunes for the Peckings camp, especially the classic Heaven In Her Eyes but Put The Stereo take things in a different direction and to another level.
