Ska, Jamaican Labels, Part 7 (K-L).

dREAM cHA cHA - cLYDE hOYTE

Now You Are Dead, an early shuffle/R&B tune by Theo Beckford on the King Pioneer label backed by Miss Laura by the same artist. Pianist and singer Theo Beckford whose Easy Snappin' for Coxsone Dodd in 1960 is regarded as one of the first recordings with a recognisable Ska beat used the King Pioneer label for his own recordings and his productions of other artists.

Two from Kentone. Free Form by Ernest Ranglin and the Jamaican Folk tune Sammy Dead is given the Ska treatment by Eric "Monty" Morris. The latter backed by Byron Lee and The Dragonnaires (production credits go to Byron Lee as well). The flip side is Say Bye Bye from the same artists.

Thanks to Dinsi for the KIW, King Edwards and Luxor labels and Tommy Rock A Shacka for the Free Form - Kentone one.
