Tapir's Reggae Label Discographies
The layout is poor but the huge amount of information about (mainly UK) Reggae labels form the late 60's to the 80's makes this site crucial. A nice section containing the old Reggae Charts from the Sounds music paper too.

Jamaican Label Art
These guys have got a bigger label fetish than Dance Crasher! Basically a coffee table book on the web with masses of eye candy if labels are your thing.

Dance Hall Style
A great site out of France. Not much to read here but that's not a problem, this site is basically all about listening to the music...the rhythm mixes are great and the individual artist ones aren't far behind. Essential.

For information on Reggae events in London and the UK this site can't be beat. Not the neatest on the web but it is consistently updated and accurate.

Blood And Fire
Web site of the record label. Not updated very regularly and the recent site redesign is not exactly stunning but some great releases mean that this is worth checking out. An interesting message board too.

King In The Arena
Site dedicated to Johnny Clarke. Well constructed and loads of info. Unfortunately this is not currently being updated, hopefully it will be resurrected at some point.

Johnny Spencer
This one is loads of fun. Johnny Spencers personal site illustrates original record labels of Jamaican music from Ska through to Roots (plus loads of Soul too). Alongside the labels are the sleeves that have all been decorated by Johnny. Some of the pictures are great, some simple and a little naive, all of them are fascinating. You have to scroll down to the bottom of the page to get to the Reggae content but it's well worth a look. Did I mention there are tons of great sound samples too?

Trojan Records
Since Sanctuary took over Trojan the label has gone from strength to strength. That includes the web site too which is well maintained and regularly updated.

Roots Archives
A professional looking data base driven site that aims to present a discography of Roots albums. Everything is cross referenced with artists, producers, backing band, label, band studio etc. All in all a very slick site that you'll find yourself going back to again and again.

Smokey Room
Given the cult status of Lee Perry it's not surprising that there are a number of web sites dedicated to his work, even though it's a while since it was updated this is still one of the best. Centered on a huge single and LP discography including label illustrations this is a fascinating resource.

Downbeat Special
Great site dedicated to Studio One, lots of info, news etc.

Two German sites selling new releases on 7". Both have Sound Samples of most of the releases they sell so are great for hearing the latest tunes.

Mento Music is a fine site dedicated to Jamaican releases of the 1950's and beyond. There are loads of label and sleeve scans for extremely rare 78's and plenty of information on the earliest days of the recording industry in Jamaica.
