      Sonia Pottinger RIP

      Word has come in that Sonia Pottinger has died, I’d been waiiting for some official verificaton before commenting but even without this it seems that this is true.

      With the recent passing of Sugar Minott and Gregory Isaacs both still fresh in many peoples minds to lose a producer of the stature of Mrs Pottinger is especially sad. Our thoughts go out to her friends and family at this time.

      Claudius Linton RIP

      It’s not a good month… after the very sad news of Lincoln Sugar Minott’s passing just a few days ago, news has just come in that one of the unsung greats of Jamaican music, Claudius Linton, has died. Linton started off in the Angelic Brothers recording for Justin Yap in the early 60’s.       Dancehall Mobi are reporting that Sugar Minott passed away a few hours ago, they are usually very reliable so it seems this must be true. Condolences to Sugar’s family. Rest In Peace star.

      As war rages

      It seems kind of crass to be talking of reggae music at a time when many of the communities from where it came are wracked by a state of near civil war.

      Lynn Taitt RIP

      Another legend of Jamaican music has passed. Lynn Taitt died of of a heart attack brought on by pneumonia on January 20 in Montreal Canada, aged 75, he had been suffering from liver cancer. RIP.
