The French Onlyroots crew continue to build on their impressive rosta of quality 70’s Roots reissues. This time round there are four mid/late seventies Sonia Pottinger productions released on the High Note label. Expect to pay around £8 each for these.
- Chockey Taylor – False Dread/Version
First issued on a High Note 7″ circa 1978.
- Reggae George – Fig Root/Version
Also originally on High Note Fig Root is an in demand tune on first press and has sold for several hundred pounds on ebay.
- Sonya Spence – Peace & Unity/Version
Previously available on the LP In The Dark.
- Novelette Barnett – Fire De A Town/Version
On High Note 7″ on first release.
Good to see Reggae George being reissued and that Sonya Pottinger is a favourite of mine. How is the dub? I distinctly remember thinking that it was such a nice song that it had to be released as a single after I first had heard it and searched around for a possible single issue. Those who wait…
Bigup to Onlyroots!
Love the Novelette Barnett tune!
Wonder how these are being licensed. Cracking re-issue programme, great tunes, great dubs, who mixed the dubs BTW?
Hi Mick – I’m confident these are legit and wouldn’t have mentioned them if I wasn’t. No idea about the dubs I’m afraid. Tim
I am sure they are Tim. Only wondering because the Sonia Pottinger catalogue wasn’t sorted with various producers re-issuing titles.
