Sittin' by the open fire place, In my favorite Clarks bootie…

The O’Jays may have written Brandy and had a (minor) hit with it back in 1978, but in the early 80’s Little John voiced it in a rub-a-dub style and made it his own. Brandy is out now on a 12″ on the Music Lovers imprint released by Spring Hill records, backed by yet another “connection” tune by Little John and Billy Boyo titled Houseman Connection.

The original Brandy is supposed to be about a dog, who knows if Little John knew that when he covered it, either way he gave us something really special.

The crew at Spring Hill have been quietly putting out a small but perfectly formed selection of 80’s tunes over the last few months, so quietly in fact that if you’d blinked you might have missed them. Don’t miss this one.
