Trojan Ska-ing West

Following on from the recently announced “Mod Reggae” set comes details of the forthcoming ska set from Trojan. Called Ska-ing West this has lot’s of singers and not so many instrumentals, this is not usually the recipe for a classic ska compilation but there is a decent enough supply of top quality tunes here.

If there is a criticism then it would have to be that there is no overall theme or hook other than them all being ska, to my mind some ska compilations without a specific link or theme kind of lose their way and drag a bit after a while. They end up being the kind of thing you check for individual tracks but rarely play all the way through. That said this does have alot of great tunes and not too many obvious choices so to expect more would probably be to expect too much.

This CD is due out on May 31st with another group of sets will follow next month, Trojan’s return to regular re-issuing is a very welcome development.
