Chim Cherie Dubplate Pressure

Pressure Sounds release a second track from from the Sound System Scratch LP on 7″ single shortly. The new release, Chim Cherie is a classic dubplate from the late 70’s and early 80’s. It was based on the Studio One original Get A Lick and went on to provide the basis for many new cuts of the rhythm in the late 80’s, most notably Billie Jean by Shinehead.

The flip side of the seven is a re-edit credited to the Dub Organiser; I’m not completely sure who that is but it’s a pseudonym previously used by the former Fashion records supremo/producer/musician Chris Lane.

Here is the original basis for the rhythm; Get A Lick by Bumps Oakley

And no excuse is needed to drop Shinehead’s Billie Jean
