As war rages

It seems kind of crass to be talking of reggae music at a time when many of the communities from where it came are wracked by a state of near civil war.

Regardless of if you view Christopher Dudus Coke as an evil drugs lord or a latter day Robin Hood the tragedy is that many people will die in his name. Though all gunmen can and must take responsibility for their actions it’s clear that many were born into a world where their life opportunities are severely curtailed due to chronic poverty that is in part a direct consequence of a cancerous corruption that goes to the very heighest echelons of Jamaican society.

At this time there will be no talk of music, just a brief silence for the people in Jamaica who continue to suffer.

Kingston, Jamaica.
