    From Cambridge Road to Music House

    Over on the Trojan Records website in recent weeks they have featured the story of Rob Bell who worked for Island Records and then Trojan from 1965 to 1972. For anyone interested in the development of the UK reggae industry and how it worked this series is essential reading.

    A big truck was rented, filled with 45s, and driven to the municipal dump at St Albans, where the records were unloaded, and under the stony gaze of a gent from Customs & Excise, were buried by a bulldozer. So ended the efforts of dozens of Jamaican hopefuls, ploughed under piles of rubbish, witnessed by a handful of humans and thousands of seagulls. Art, meet Commerce.
