A fifty dollar bill

Mel Cooke is at it in Gleaner once again. He has another one of those funny little features that has little or nothing to do with the news but is a nice little glance back at Jamaican music back in the day and it’s effects on/or how it was affected by wider culture and society. This time it’s all about General Trees and his tune $50 Bill.

When General Trees did $50 Bill around 1984, he would not have had any idea that he would one day see a note 100 times the value of the one he sang about in circulation….

Mel is a bit of a fan of General Trees having previously written about him and a minibus.
