Apparently Zest Music are selling Greensleeves Records to the US Reggae company VP for £3.1million. Zest bought Greensleeves for £3.25 million in March 2006 so their decision to sell so soon comes as something of a surprise. The sale is dependent on a meeting of the shareholders agreeing, this takes place in early February.
Full details can be found here.
Assuming the sale goes through… Though VP is a very strong brand in it’s own right you’d have to expect that they will retain the Greensleeves brand as this is particularly strong for the early Dancehall era reissue market, maybe it will replace VP’s own relatively new “17 North Parade” subsidiary?
