| This is a new section
that will have more indepth articles and features. It's unlikely that new
stuff will be added with any regularity though as I'm no writer or expert.
Everything here has relied on co-operation and collaboration with many other
people whose assistance was invaluable. The great thing about the
internet is the ease and flexibility in presenting graphics and musicmusic
together in a way that was impossible only a few years ago. It's with
this in mind that these features are presented, they are as much about
the music and images as they are about the written word. Enjoy.
Keith Hudson (and Keith Hobson) The Rocksteady Originals.
In the early 70's Keith Hudson re-used a handful of 60's Rocksteady originals.
For the first time these are identified and presented for your listening
pleasure.
Blondel Kalnek and the Caltone Label.
Blondel Kalnek and the producers he worked with were responsible for some
of the best Rocksteady to be produced in Jamaica in the breif period in
the late 60's when that music ruled supreme.
Pama's Unity Records Label. An ongoing work to present sound
samples of all releases on the Unity label, tracing all the versions,
scans of both the Unity and original Jamaican issues etc.
Stock
label designs. Looking at the label designs that were re-used
by different produces. Basically you choose your background and just print
the label name and artist credits over the top. Nine different designs
are feature with dozens of examples and sound samples of the tunes too.
